2022. It’s been quite a year!

2022 is almost over. It has been quite a year

Lots of things happened but the biggest and best was definitely the birth of my sweet little granddaughter Astrid. I wish she lived closer, and in the same country, but I’ve been able to see her several times and am amazed how quickly she changes. Thank heavens for the ability to send pictures, and have video connections to keep up with her amazing growth.

Both of my daughters have done exceedingly well in their careers this year, taking on new challenges and continuing to excel. They seem so much more confident than I ever was and I am so proud of them.

This year we headed north and explored Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay areas on a road trip that was great fun. Spring was an unusual choice as Fall would have been more obvious with all the colours, but Spring has lots of advantages in terms of high water levels for enjoying waterfalls, and smaller crowds, and most things were open by the time we went. The important thing was not to conflict with baby time!

We enjoyed quite a bit of time at the cottage in Muskoka which is always a treat. Just before Canada Day we came home to attend our grand nephews 2nd birthday party but it was cancelled as Covid struck. So we ended up at the Canada Day outdoor concert celebration and discovered some local music artists that were fabulous and we have followed them since and attended their concerts.

Lots of great family time happened in October with a niece’s wedding. First a garden party celebration in Hamilton, ensuring those who couldn’t travel were able to participate. Then the ceremony and party in Montreal with family from Vancouver, Victoria, Vietnam and other places that don’t start with V. Lots of people getting together and celebrating life. Even baby Astrid added to her international travel at only 10 weeks of age. And interspersed with all the new wedding celebrations was a celebration of my parents’ 69th wedding anniversary.

The year is ending in an unusual fashion as we are in Mexico courtesy of my aunt. Originally we had hoped both my daughters would be here, but my little granddaughter was not ready to fly to Mexico for Christmas, especially as her passport hasn’t come through. But one daughter and her partner came and we had a good time.

We spent New Year’s Eve in Mexico in typical Canadian fashion watching the Canada vs Sweden Junior hockey game, which Canada won decisively.

Looking forward to 2023!

  1. I love these Wandering With Wendy travel blogs. There is so much happening in them, told in an interesting fashion. Succinct.
